Key Responsibilities

• Assist in enforcing safety of shipping, including compliance with construction regulations, maintenance of safety standards, and safety of navigation rules.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining all government-owned navigational aids under the control of the Authority.
• Ensure that other navigational aids are established in compliance with prescribed conditions and specifications and maintained in proper working order.
• Promulgate information on changes to or deficiencies in navigational aids in accordance with IMO/IHO World-Wide Navigational Warning Service standards.
• Promulgate information on situations that may adversely affect maritime safety.
• Investigate potential dangers to navigation.
• Process applications for and grant exemptions or equivalents where appropriate.
• Prepare reports summarizing new exemptions and equivalents granted for communication to the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
• Collect meteorological data and issue weather warnings and information suitable for shipping.
• Prepare and issue meteorological publications.
• Arrange for ships to be equipped with tested marine meteorological instruments and encourage the recording and transmission of observations.
• Manage the reception and transmission of weather messages between ships and the Authority.

Requirements and Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields:

• Mechanical Engineering
• Naval Architecture
• Nautical Science
