The Motor Vehicle Mechanic at Amentum is responsible for performing maintenance and repair services on a variety of vehicles and specialized equipment, including Non-Tactical Vehicles (NTVE), Weight Handling Equipment (WHE), Material Handling Equipment (MHE), and Other Handling Equipment (OHE). The role involves troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical issues to ensure equipment is mission-ready and compliant with safety standards such as NAVFAC P-307.
Responsibilities
Perform maintenance and repair services on various vehicles and equipment, including NTVE, WHE, MHE, and OHE.
Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose mechanical issues using current technology and diagnostic procedures.
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
Perform all work on WHE in compliance with NAVFAC P-307 requirements.
Maintain thorough knowledge of new technologies, vehicle systems, and troubleshooting procedures for WHE.
Ensure all journeyman mechanics are trained and equipped for any new NTVE added throughout the contract's lifecycle.
Execute maintenance, repair, and operational duties for War Reserve Material (WRM) vehicles and equipment per Air Force requirements.
Provide emergency road service between 0700 and 2100 hours, seven days per week, as assigned.
Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities while adhering to quality and safety protocols.
Operate vehicles and equipment as necessary to perform diagnostics and ensure repair quality.
Requirements
Minimum of two (2) years of journeyman-level experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair, specifically on NTVE, WHE, MHE, or OHE.
High school diploma or equivalent; BA/BSc/HND or Diploma in a relevant technical field is preferred.
Familiarity with current technology, troubleshooting techniques, and diagnostics related to vehicle maintenance.
Trained in maintenance and repair for all WHE equipment.
Ability to maintain, repair, and operate Air Force WRM vehicles and equipment.
Possession of a valid passport (minimum 1-year validity at the time of hiring) and ability to travel internationally.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
Valid country driver's license and country visa.
Experience working in support of US Navy or Air Force equipment maintenance programs.
Strong knowledge of NAVFAC P-307 requirements and procedures.
Experience training other personnel on vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, operationally demanding environment.
