Amentum is a global leader in designing, engineering, and modernizing critical systems and programs of national importance. We are seeking a Marine Engine Mechanic to perform maintenance, repair, and preservation of gasoline and diesel engines, outboard engines (25 horsepower and above), hydraulic systems, and various auxiliary marine equipment. This role ensures that all marine operations comply with U.S. Coast Guard, OSHA, and host nation standards while supporting the development of fleet maintenance and training programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repair, and preservation of gasoline and diesel engines, including 25 HP and above two- and four-stroke outboard engines.
- Maintain hydraulic systems, cargo pumps, tank valves, air compressors, and welding machines.
- Ensure marine operations comply with U.S. Coast Guard standards, CFR 49, IMDGC, OSHA 29 CFR 1917/1918, and host nation requirements.
- Develop fleet maintenance programs and employee training initiatives.
- Conduct annual inspections on all watercraft.
- Execute preventive maintenance including lubricating, cleaning, servicing, and testing equipment.
- Utilize manual and computerized diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical malfunctions.
- Repair or replace components using mechanic power and hand tools.
- Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints for diagnosis, wiring, and system maintenance.
- Perform heavy body, sub-frame, gelcoat, and fiberglass repairs.
- Adhere to safety protocols and environmental standards.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years as an industrial Mechanic specializing in Marine power system engines.
- Education: Possession of a BA/BSc/HND, Diploma, or Professional Certificate in a relevant field; High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certifications: Certificate from a recognized mechanical trade school.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of internal combustion engines (gas/diesel, 2/4 stroke), brake systems (air/hydraulic), and electrical/hydraulic systems.
- Travel/Legal: Must possess a valid passport (valid for at least one year) and be able to travel internationally.
- Licensing: Valid driver's license and ability to obtain/maintain facility credentials.
- Language: Proficient verbal and written English skills.
- Medical: Ability to pass contract medical requirements for the duration of deployment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous OCONUS experience in austere environments with a multi-national workforce.
- Strong organizational, time management, and customer service skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb ladders/stairs on moving surfaces.
- Prepared for on-call duties at all hours and working in remote/hazardous conditions.
