Amentum is seeking a Motor Vehicle Mechanic to join our team in Lamu. This role involves performing critical maintenance and repair services on a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment to support national defense and security operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of Non-Tactical Vehicles (NTVE), Weight Handling Equipment (WHE), Material Handling Equipment (MHE), and Other Handling Equipment (OHE).
Responsibilities
Vehicle Maintenance & Repair: Perform comprehensive maintenance and repair on various vehicles including NTVE, WHE, MHE, and OHE.
Diagnostics: Utilize modern technology and diagnostic procedures to inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose mechanical issues.
Operational Readiness: Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure all assigned vehicles and equipment are ready for use.
Regulatory Compliance: Execute all work on Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) in strict compliance with NAVFAC P-307 requirements.
Technical Proficiency: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new technologies, vehicle systems, and troubleshooting procedures for specialized equipment.
War Reserve Material (WRM): Execute maintenance and operational duties for Air Force WRM vehicles and equipment.
Emergency Response: Provide emergency road service between 0700 and 2100 hours as required.
Training: Assist in training journeyman mechanics on maintenance procedures for new vehicles introduced during the contract lifecycle.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities while adhering to safety protocols.
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of journeyman-level experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair (specifically NTVE, WHE, MHE, or OHE).
Education: A BA/BSc/HND or Diploma in a relevant field; or a High School Diploma (or equivalent) with relevant technical experience.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with current diagnostic tools and troubleshooting techniques.
Certifications: Formally trained in the maintenance and repair of WHE equipment.
Documentation: Must possess a valid passport (valid for at least 1 year from hiring) and a valid driver's license.
Travel: Ability to travel internationally and work in austere OCONUS environments.
Compliance: Ability to pass contract medical requirements and obtain necessary facility credentials and authorizations.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in support of US Navy or Air Force equipment maintenance programs.
Strong knowledge of NAVFAC P-307 procedures.
Experience working with a multi-national workforce in operationally demanding environments.
