Nandi County is Kenya’s athletics hub, known as the 'home of champions'. The County Government is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Land Surveyor II. The role is centered on conducting essential land survey field assignments, including mapping and establishing survey controls, to facilitate urban and rural development projects within the county.
Responsibilities
Field Assignments: Carrying out basic survey field assignments including mapping and establishing survey controls.
Specialized Surveys: Undertaking small and medium area cadastral, topographical surveys, subdivisional schemes, site and general engineering surveys.
Quality Control: Performing preliminary quality control of cadastral and general boundary surveys.
Data Compilation: Searching for and compiling required survey data information from relevant government institutions.
Equipment Operation: Carrying out field observations using various survey equipment such as Automatic level, Total Station, and Global Positioning System (GPS).
Data Processing: Processing filed survey data and creating maps, plans, and technical drawings.
Reporting: Preparation of detailed field survey reports.
Maintenance: Routine maintenance of survey instruments to ensure accuracy.
Requirements
For appointment to this grade, candidates must have:
A Bachelor’s degree in Surveying and Photogrammetry, Geomatics, Geo-spatial Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Graduate membership with the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK), within the Land Surveyors or Engineering Surveyors Chapter.
A valid Practicing Certificate from the Lands Surveyor's Board (LSB) of Kenya.
A letter of good standing from the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya.
Proficiency in computer applications.
