The County Government of Nandi is seeking a qualified Land Surveyor II to join the department. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing essential survey tasks including field mapping, establishing survey controls, and conducting various types of area surveys. This role is critical in the development of subdivisional schemes, topographical mapping, and providing site-specific engineering survey data for the county.
Duties and Responsibilities
Carrying out basic survey field assignments, including mapping and establishing survey controls.
Undertaking small and medium area cadastral, topographical surveys, subdivisional schemes, site, and general engineering surveys.
Undertaking preliminary quality control of cadastral and general boundary surveys.
Searching for and compiling required survey data information from relevant government institutions.
Carrying out field observations using various survey equipment such as Automatic levels, Total Stations, and Global Positioning Systems (GPS).
Processing field survey data for use in various projects.
Creating detailed maps, plans, and technical drawings.
Preparing field survey reports and documentation.
Ensuring the regular maintenance and calibration of survey instruments.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, candidates must have:
A Bachelor’s degree in Surveying and Photogrammetry, Geomatics, Geo-spatial Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Graduate membership with the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK), specifically under the Land Surveyors or Engineering Surveyors Chapter.
A valid Practicing Certificate from the Land Surveyors Board (LSB) of Kenya.
A letter of good standing from the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya.
Proficiency in computer applications relevant to surveying and data processing.
