Mount Kenya University is seeking a Tutorial Fellow specialized in Subject Methods (Kiswahili). The primary role involves delivering high-quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students while contributing to the academic discipline through research and administrative support. The role reports directly to the Dean, School of Education.
Duties and Responsibilities
Adhere to teaching requirements as per the approved curriculum.
Administer Continuous Assessments Tests (CATs).
Handle examination setting, administration, and marking.
Deliver high-quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students through the preparation of teaching materials and class activities.
Keep abreast of developments within the academic discipline of Kiswahili Subject Methods to shape curriculum content, design, and delivery.
Ensure that content, methods of delivery, and learning materials meet defined learning objectives and are regularly reviewed for improvement.
Ensure timely student assessment through the preparation, moderation, administration, and marking of examinations.
Guide students at undergraduate and graduate levels in identifying research topics, concept development, proposal development, and supervision.
Maintain accurate student records, including registers, reports, student assessment, and achievement data in the Academic Management System.
Identify sources of funding through grant writing to advance the school's research portfolio.
Engage in publishing papers and participate in workshops, conferences, and professional seminars.
Collaborate with internal and external researchers to establish research linkages and contribute to the school’s research objectives.
Perform administrative duties including leadership of academic programmes and membership in various committees.
Requirements
Must be registered for a PhD in the area of specialization.
Master’s Degree in a relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
Bachelor of Education Arts/Science.
Registration by a relevant professional body.
Three (3) years of teaching experience at the University Level.
