Role Overview
Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully fledged chartered university committed to a broad-based, holistic, and inclusive system of education. The School of Education is seeking a Tutorial Fellow specializing in Subject Methods Business Studies. This role is designed for an academic professional who is currently pursuing doctoral studies and possesses a strong background in teaching at the university level. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality learning experiences, mentor students, and contribute to the university's research and administrative objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery: Adhere to teaching requirements as per the curriculum and deliver high-quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students through prepared materials and activities.
Assessment & Examinations: Administer Continuous Assessments Tests (CATs) and oversee the preparation, moderation, administration, and marking of examinations.
Research & Mentorship: Guide undergraduate and graduate students in identifying research topics, concept development, proposal development, and supervision.
Academic Discipline: Keep abreast of developments within the academic discipline or professional practice of Business Studies to shape curriculum content and delivery.
Student Records: Maintain accurate student records, including registers, reports, and achievement data, within the Academic Management System.
Research Portfolio: Identify funding sources through grant writing, publish papers, and participate in workshops, conferences, and professional seminars.
Collaboration: Partner with other researchers internally and internationally to establish research linkages and support school objectives.
Administration: Undertake administrative duties as assigned, including leadership of academic programs or membership in various committees.
Job Requirements
Must be currently registered for a PhD in the area of specialization.
Master’s Degree in a relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
Bachelor of Education (Arts/Science).
Registration by a relevant professional body.
A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience at the University level.
