Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking a Tutorial Fellow specialized in Subject Methods Computer Studies to join the School of Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality educational experiences to both undergraduate and graduate students, keeping abreast of academic developments in computer studies pedagogy, and contributing to the university's research output and administrative functions. The role reports to the Dean, School of Education.
Responsibilities and Duties
Adhere strictly to curriculum teaching requirements.
Administer and mark Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs).
Manage the full cycle of examination setting, administration, moderation, and marking.
Prepare comprehensive teaching materials and interactive class activities.
Review and update curriculum content and methods of delivery to ensure learning objectives are met.
Guide and supervise undergraduate and graduate students through research topic identification, concept development, and proposal writing.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate student records (attendance, assessment, achievement) in the Academic Management System.
Actively identify and pursue research funding sources through grant writing.
Publish academic papers in recognized journals and participate in professional conferences and seminars.
Establish research linkages with national and international collaborators.
Undertake administrative duties as assigned, including program leadership and committee participation.
Qualifications and Requirements
Must be currently registered for a PhD in the area of specialization.
Possession of a Master’s Degree in a relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
Possession of a Bachelor of Education (Arts/Science).
Current registration with a relevant professional body.
Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience at the University Level.
