Mount Kenya University (MKU), a fully fledged chartered university committed to holistic education, is seeking a Tutorial Fellow in Subject Methods History to join the School of Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students, keeping abreast of developments in the academic discipline, and contributing to the university's research objectives. The role involves curriculum delivery, student assessment, and administrative participation under the guidance of the Dean.
Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction: Deliver high-quality learning experiences through the preparation of teaching materials, class methodology/activities, and actual curriculum delivery to undergraduate and graduate students.
Curriculum Development: Ensure that content, methods of delivery, and learning materials meet defined objectives and are regularly reviewed for improvement.
Assessment: Ensure timely student assessment through the setting, moderation, administration, and marking of Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs) and final examinations.
Research and Supervision: Guide students at undergraduate and graduate levels in identifying research topics, concept development, proposal development, and supervision. Identify grant funding sources to advance the school's research portfolio.
Documentation: Maintain accurate student records, including registers, reports, student assessment, and achievement in the Academic Management System.
Professional Engagement: Publish academic papers and participate in workshops, conferences, and professional seminars.
Collaboration: Work with other researchers internally and internationally to establish research linkages and contribute to the school's research goals.
Administration: Perform administrative duties including academic program leadership, committee membership, and management support as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Must be registered for a PhD in the area of specialization.
Degrees: Possess a Master’s Degree in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution and a Bachelor of Education (Arts/Science).
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience at the University Level.
Professionalism: Registration by a relevant professional body.
