Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully fledged chartered university committed to a broad-based, wholistic and inclusive system of education. The university is seeking a Tutorial Fellow specializing in Subject Methods English to join the School of Education. The successful candidate will report to the Dean, School of Education, and will be responsible for delivering high-quality learning experiences, conducting student assessments, and contributing to the university's research goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
Adhere to the teaching requirements as per the curriculum.
Administration of Continuous Assessments Tests (CATs).
Examination Setting, Administration & Marking.
Deliver high-quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students through the preparation of teaching materials, class methodology, and actual delivery of the curriculum.
Keep abreast of developments within the academic discipline or professional practice of the Subject area to shape curriculum content and design.
Ensure content, delivery methods, and learning materials meet defined learning objectives and are regularly reviewed for improvement.
Ensure timely student assessment through moderation, administration, and marking of examinations.
Guide students at undergraduate and graduate level in identifying research topics, concept development, proposal development, and supervision.
Maintain accurate student records, including registers and achievement reports, in the Academic Management System.
Identify sources of funding through grant writing to advance the school's research portfolio.
Engage in publishing papers and participating in workshops, conferences, and professional seminars.
Collaborate with internal, national, and international researchers to establish research linkages.
Undertake administrative duties such as leadership of academic programmes or membership of committees.
Requirements
Must be registered for a PhD in the area of specialization.
Master’s Degree in relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
Bachelor of Education Arts/Science.
Registration by a relevant professional body.
Three (3) years of teaching experience at University Level.
