Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully fledged chartered university committed to a broad-based, wholistic and inclusive system of education. The university is seeking to recruit a Tutorial Fellow specializing in Subject Methods (Chemistry). The role involves delivering high-quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students, conducting academic research, and supporting the School of Education's administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum & Teaching: Adhere to teaching requirements as per the curriculum. Prepare teaching materials and class activities, and deliver the actual curriculum to undergraduate and graduate students.
Student Assessment: Handle examination setting, moderation, administration, and marking, including Continuous Assessments Tests (CATs). Ensure timely student assessment and achievement records are updated in the Academic Management System.
Research & Development: Keep abreast of developments within the discipline to shape curriculum content and design. Identify research funding sources through grant writing and engage in publishing papers and attending professional seminars.
Student Mentorship: Guide students at undergraduate and graduate levels in research topic identification, concept development, and proposal supervision.
Collaboration: Collaborate with internal and external researchers to establish linkages and contribute to the school's research objectives.
Administration: Carry out administrative duties including leadership of academic programmes and membership in various committees.
Requirements
Must be registered for a PhD in the area of specialization.
Master’s Degree in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
Bachelor of Education (Arts/Science).
Registration by a relevant professional body.
Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience at the University Level.
