Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully fledged chartered university committed to a broad-based, wholistic and inclusive system of education. The university has adopted several international best practices in its core functions and is seeking to recruit a Tutorial Fellow - Subject Methods Biology to join the School of Education. The successful candidate will report to the Dean, School of Education.
Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery: Adherence to the teaching requirements as per the curriculum and delivery of high-quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students through the preparation of teaching materials and class activities.
Assessment and Examinations: Administration of Continuous Assessments Tests (CATs), as well as setting, moderation, administration, and marking of examinations in a timely manner.
Research and Supervision: Guide students at undergraduate and graduate levels in identifying research topics, concept development, proposal development, and supervision. Identify sources of funding through grant writing to advance the school's research portfolio.
Professional Engagement: Keep abreast of developments within the academic discipline, publish papers, and participate in workshops, conferences, and professional seminars.
Record Management: Ensure accurate student records, including registers, reports, student assessments, and achievements are updated in the Academic Management System.
Collaboration: Partner with other researchers internally, nationally, and internationally to establish research linkages.
Administration: Responsible for administrative duties when called upon, including leadership of academic programmes and committee membership.
Requirements
Must be registered for a PhD in the area of specialization.
Master’s Degree in a relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
Bachelor of Education Arts/Science.
Registration by a relevant professional body.
Three (3) years of teaching experience at University Level.
