Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Tutorial Fellow - Subject Methods Agriculture within the School of Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students, focusing on the specialized area of agricultural teaching methods. This role involves academic instruction, curriculum development, student mentorship, and active participation in the university's research initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery: Adhere to teaching requirements as per the curriculum and deliver high-quality learning experiences through preparation of materials and class activities.
Assessment: Handle examination setting, administration, and marking, including Continuous Assessments Tests (CATs).
Academic Advancement: Keep abreast of developments within the academic discipline to shape curriculum content, design, and delivery.
Quality Assurance: Ensure that content, methods of delivery, and learning materials meet defined learning objectives and are regularly reviewed for improvement.
Student Guidance: Guide students at both undergraduate and graduate levels in identifying research topics, concept development, and proposal supervision.
Record Keeping: Ensure accurate student records, including registers, reports, and assessments, are updated in the Academic Management System.
Research and Scholarship: Identify funding sources through grant writing, publish papers, and participate in workshops, conferences, and professional seminars.
Collaboration: Collaborate with internal and external researchers to establish linkages and contribute to the school's research objectives.
Administration: Undertake administrative duties as assigned, including committee membership and academic program leadership.
Requirements
Must be registered for a PhD in the area of specialization.
Master’s Degree in a relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
Bachelor of Education (Arts/Science).
Registration by a relevant professional body.
At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the University Level.
Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Dean, School of Education.
