Job Description
At TakaTaka Solutions, we collect waste like every other waste collector, but instead of taking it to a landfill, we take it to our own sites, where we sort the waste, and then recycle 95% either ourselves or through our local partners. This represents one of the highest recycling rates in the world.
Job Purpose
The Truck Driver will collect waste from assigned commercial and residential clients efficiently and responsibly while ensuring compliance with safety and traffic regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Collect waste from assigned commercial and residential clients efficiently and responsibly.
Supervise loaders and their respective tasks to ensure they maintain proper conduct in the eyes of company clients.
Ensure loaders are picking all client waste and nothing else.
Complete delivery forms and forward the documentation for timely processing.
Perform basic mechanical duties.
Handle the tipper and skip loader.
Ensure that the truck is above a certain (dependent per truck) fuel efficiency level.
Perform a pre- and post-trip inspection that includes tires, fuel, oil, etc. Fill in the checklist and hand it to the logistics team.
Ensure no overloading of the trucks.
Ensure that the tarpaulin cover is securely fastened and protects the loaded waste materials.
Ensure the respective truck is compliant with all NTSA regulations at all times.
Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies at all times.
Interact professionally and properly with clients in compliance with company core values, addressing any concerns and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Maintain accurate records of collections, deliveries, and any incidents that occur during operations through clear communication with the logistics team.
Advise the logistics team on route optimizations.
Always report directly any theft suspicions or discrepancies to the Logistics Team or Manager.
Requirements
Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
KCPE Education and above.
Proven experience as a truck driver, preferably in a Manufacturing / Industrial setup or a related field.
Knowledge of local routes, areas, NTSA, and highway rules.
Ability to operate trucks and other related equipment.
Strong commitment to safety and environmental regulations.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and weekends.
