The Group Life Underwriting Specialist is responsible for supervising Group Life underwriters to ensure prudent underwriting and effective administration of group life schemes in accordance with the laid down procedures and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Renewal Coordination: Coordinate processing of renewals, including advising medical requirements to customers and generating reports for policies due for renewal.
Costing Management: Coordinate processing of supplementary costings and ensure prompt communication of costings for new entrants and exits.
Data Integrity: Review new member details whenever there are changes to scheme membership to ensure accurate data capture and high level of accuracy in costings and debit/credit notes.
Business Support: Support retention of business by ensuring adherence to SLAs and promoting relationship management with intermediaries and clients.
Customer Service: Attend to queries and concerns from customers and intermediaries to ensure timely resolution.
Reporting & Documentation: Prepare reports as required, manage credit life quotations, and handle customer onboarding. Prepare policy documents, policy endorsements, and renewal endorsements.
Underwriting & Reinsurance: Conduct prudent medical and financial underwriting. Prepare and submit accurate reinsurance returns on a quarterly basis and seek facultative reinsurance for sums assured above treaty limits.
Financial Management: Oversee debt management and collection of premiums within grace periods.
Requirements
Education: Bachelors’ degree in a Business-related field.
Professional Certifications: Professional qualification in Insurance (ACII, AIIK).
Experience: At least 4 years’ experience in the management of group life schemes.
Competencies & Skills
In-depth understanding of insurance operations and concepts.
Knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements and claims procedures.
Effective business management skills.
Demonstrable commercial and financial management experience.
Excellent organizational and stakeholder management skills.
Strong customer service skills.
