Valley Hospital is a leading Level 4 hospital in Nakuru City offering both inpatient and outpatient services. We are seeking to recruit a dedicated Claims Officer to join our Finance Department. This role is essential in ensuring the timely and accurate preparation, submission, and follow-up of medical claims. The position supports the hospital’s revenue cycle by minimizing claim rejections, reconciling payments, and maintaining proper documentation in compliance with payer and hospital policies.
Responsibilities
Ensure the timely and accurate preparation and submission of all medical claims.
Conduct consistent follow-ups on submitted claims to ensure prompt payment.
Minimize claim rejections through meticulous review and adherence to billing codes.
Reconcile insurance payments against submitted claims and resolve any discrepancies.
Maintain proper and thorough documentation in compliance with hospital and payer policies.
Support the Finance Department in maintaining a healthy revenue cycle.
Qualifications and Requirements
A Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Finance, or a related field.
A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in a similar role within a medium to large organization.
Strong understanding of medical claims procedures, billing standards, and medical coding (e.g., ICD-10).
Proficiency in using claims management software and Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
Analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve claim-related issues.
Strong communication and coordination skills to work effectively with insurance providers and internal teams.
