Engineering Technologist II

Role Overview

An Engineering Technologist II at the Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board (KETRB) works under the supervision of a senior officer to support the regulation and advancement of engineering technology in Kenya. The role involves implementing registration and licensing policies, monitoring professional development, and ensuring compliance with established standards in construction and manufacturing sites.

Key Responsibilities

Registration & Licensing

• Implement engineering technology registration and licensing policies, strategies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Handle the registration of eligible persons and engineering technology consulting firms.

Partnerships & Professional Development

• Collect and collate data on interns and training institutions offering internship programs.
• Provide support in the administration of professional examinations for the purposes of registration of engineering technology professionals.

Research & Standards

• Support the implementation of standards, guidelines, and manuals for engineering technology professionals in management, marketing, professional ethics, environmental issues, safety, and legal matters.
• Assist in surveying fees charged by engineering technologists/technicians and firms for professional services.
• Support the implementation of appropriate quality standards to be adhered to by engineering technologists/technicians in liaison with stakeholders.

Compliance

• Support the implementation of guidelines and procedures for compliance.
• Assist in the implementation of engineering technology inspection and disciplinary procedures, guidelines, and manuals.
• Inspect construction, installation, erection, alteration, renovation, maintenance, processing, or manufacturing sites to ensure professional standards are adhered to.

Compensation and Benefits

• Basic Salary: Ksh. 61,307 – 90,387 p.m.
• House Allowance: Ksh. 10,000 p.m.
• Commuter Allowance: Ksh. 4,000 p.m.

Job Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Building, Civil, Electrical and Electronics, Education, or Agricultural Engineering) OR a Higher National Diploma in these relevant fields from a recognized institution.
• Must be registered with the Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board (KETRB) as a Candidate Engineering Technologist.
• Must fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution (Integrity).
• Proficiency in computer applications.
