Assistant Director, Compliance

At the Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board (KETRB), we are committed to advancing engineering technology in Kenya. The Assistant Director, Compliance is a senior leadership position responsible for establishing and overseeing the regulatory framework that ensures professional standards are maintained across the engineering technology sector. This role involves developing compliance guidelines, coordinating site inspections, managing disciplinary inquiries, and collaborating with government agencies to uphold the integrity of engineering technology works in Kenya.

Responsibilities

• Developing guidelines and procedures for compliance within the engineering technology sector.
• Establishing inspection and disciplinary procedures, manuals, and guidelines.
• Coordinating the inspection of sites involved in construction, installation, maintenance, processing, or manufacturing to ensure professional standards are met.
• Making recommendations for suspension or disciplinary action against engineering technology services or projects that fail to meet statutory standards.
• Coordinating investigations into complaints, allegations, breaches of the code of conduct, and suspected non-compliance.
• Conducting formal inquiries regarding professional misconduct.
• Investigating allegations of contravention of the Code of Conduct and Ethics.
• Liaising with government departments and other relevant agencies to ensure strict adherence and compliance with the relevant Act.

Qualifications and Experience

• Served cumulatively for twelve (12) years, including at least three (3) years in the grade of Principal Engineering Technologist or a comparable senior position in the Public Service.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology in fields such as Mechanical, Building Technology, Civil, Electrical and Electronics, Education Technology, or Agricultural Engineering from a recognized institution.
• A Master’s Degree in Engineering Technology or a relevant field.
• Completion of a Leadership course lasting at least four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
• Registered with the Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board (KETRB) as a Professional Engineering Technologist.
• Possession of a valid annual practicing license from KETRB.
• Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution regarding leadership and integrity.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Proven experience in compliance and inspection is an added advantage.

Salary and Allowances

• Basic Salary: Ksh. 129,120 – 204,115 per month
• House Allowance: Ksh. 45,000 per month
• Commuter Allowance: Ksh. 12,000 per month
