The Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board (KETRB) is seeking a Deputy Director for Registration and Licensing. This senior management position (KETRB 3) is responsible for the overall coordination and management of the registration and licensing functions for engineering technology professionals and firms in Kenya. The role involves developing policies, implementing digital systems for professional management, and ensuring that all practitioners meet the required standards to practice in the country.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, review, and implement engineering technology registration and licensing policies, strategies, procedures, and guidelines.
Create and update registration and licensing instruments and tools.
Coordinate the registration process for eligible individuals and firms.
Oversee the maintenance and integrity of the professional register.
Design, develop, and manage information management systems for registration and licensing.
Facilitate the official gazettement of registered engineering technology professionals.
Ensure the timely issuance of licenses to qualified persons.
Evaluate and determine the eligibility of foreign qualifications for engineering technology professionals seeking to work in Kenya.
Handle the cancellation, revocation, and withdrawal of registrations and licenses due to misconduct, bankruptcy, or legal convictions.
Requirements and Qualifications
At least fifteen (15) years of cumulative professional experience, with a minimum of three (3) years in a management role.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology in fields such as Mechanical, Building Technology, Civil, Electrical and Electronics, Education Technology, or Agricultural Engineering from a recognized institution.
A Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
Completion of a leadership course lasting at least four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Professional registration with the Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board as a Professional Engineering Technologist.
Possession of a valid annual practicing license from KETRB.
Full compliance with the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution regarding leadership and integrity.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Remuneration and Benefits
Basic Salary: Ksh. 180,916 – 249,375 per month.
House Allowance: Ksh. 45,000 per month.
Commuter Allowance: Ksh. 14,000 per month.
