British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK)
The British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) delivers world leading infantry training in Kenya in collaboration with the Kenyan Defense Forces (KDF) under the Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA). The Driver / Maintainer is responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of vehicle types and conducting various driving tasks as directed by the Mechanical Transport Foreman or relevant Line Manager. ### Main Duties and Responsibilities\n- Maintain a clean and valid driving licence.\n- Carry out daily 'first parade' inspections on vehicles.\n- Ensure the safe transport of passengers via coaches, Troop Carrying Vehicles (TCV), or other Personnel Carrying Vehicles to destinations such as JKIA, Kifaru, and NYATI.\n- Ensure the safe movement of freight, stores, weapons, ammunition, or fuel using SV cargo or ISO container vehicles.\n- Perform basic vehicle maintenance, including changing canopies, light clusters, bulbs, reflectors, and mirrors.\n- Fully comply with BATUK’s Mechanical Transport Standing Orders.\n- Promptly report all incidents and vehicle faults to relevant personnel.\n- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations.\n\n### Secondary Duties\n- Conduct routine vehicle servicing.\n- Undertake further trade training, such as the ADR (Accord Dangereux Routier) Licence for dangerous goods.\n- Participate in specialist vehicle training for equipment like Cranes and Forklifts as required.\n- Execute other duties commensurate with the grade as directed by the Line Manager.\n\n### Core Competencies\n- Communication and Influencing (Lead Competence)\n- Working Together\n- Planning and Managing Resources to Deliver Results\n\n### Qualifications and Experience\n- KCSE qualification.\n- Valid Driving Licence for categories B, C1, C, D, D1, D2, and D3.\n- Good oral and written communication skills in English.\n- Must be a punctual, well-organised team player.\n- No medical impairments affecting driving ability.\n\n### How to Apply\nInterested and qualified candidates should apply online through the BATUK recruitment portal at batuk.odoo.com by visiting: https://www.myjobmag.co.ke/apply-now/1194470
