Truck / Van Driver

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure timely, accurate, and safe delivery of event equipment and goods.
• Transport staff members when required for official duties.
• Verify the accuracy of all items before departure and upon delivery at the destination.
• Handle unexpected situations on the road, including roadblocks and vehicle breakdowns, with professionalism.
• Adhere strictly to road safety guidelines and traffic regulations.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance, including regular inspections, oil changes, and maintenance of accurate delivery logs.
• Plan efficient delivery routes and schedules in coordination with the logistics and events teams.
• Inspect and maintain the vehicle to ensure it meets safety regulations and company standards.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of equipment and goods during transit to prevent any damage.
• Establish and maintain excellent working relationships through efficient and courteous service.
• Optimize route planning to minimize travel time and fuel consumption.
• Report any technical issues or mechanical faults promptly to the management.
• Keep accurate records of all deliveries, including times, locations, and inventory details.
• Load and unload equipment at event venues, warehouses, and client locations using appropriate tools.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proper inventory handling and reporting.

Job Specifications and Qualifications

• KCSE Certificate; additional education or certification in logistics is an added advantage.
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
• At least 5 years of experience driving commercial vehicles, preferably in the logistics or events sector.
• In-depth knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices.
• Basic mechanical knowledge is preferred.
• NYS (National Youth Service) training is an added advantage.
