Africa Nazarene University (ANU) is an American private Christian University in Nairobi, Kenya, and an affiliate of The Church of the Nazarene Colleges and Universities around the world. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Lecturer in the field of Computer Science to join our faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality education, engaging in impactful research, and contributing to the university's academic and administrative growth. This role involves curriculum development, student mentorship, and active participation in the scholarly community through publications and research funding.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Instruction: Deliver quality teaching, assessment, and feedback. Employ various teaching methods such as field studies, group activities, assignments, and laboratory sessions to help student learning.
Curriculum Development: Engage in curriculum review and program improvement; contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of high-quality curricula. Review and develop course and lesson plans.
Course Management: Prepare course materials and teaching aids, ensuring timely upload in the Learning Management System (LMS).
Assessment: Develop assessment plans; set, pre-moderate, administer, mark, and post-moderate exams, assignments, and presentations. Ensure grades are entered into the system.
Supervision: Supervise undergraduate or graduate teaching, internships, and research work.
Research and Publication: Conduct research in a particular field of knowledge and publish findings in professional journals, books, or electronic media.
Administration: Attend meetings, provide timely data/reports to the Chair of Department, registrar, and other functions, and perform other assigned administrative duties.
Academic Advising: Develop a schedule for student academic and career advising to be communicated through the department.
Professional Engagement: Attend conferences, workshops, seminars, and participate in industrial linkages or market outreach visits.
Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance activities such as evaluations, peer reviews, and self-assessments to maintain academic integrity and ethical practice.
Requirements and Qualifications
At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level as a Lecturer or Senior Researcher, or six (6) years of relevant research/industry experience.
A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, of which at least twenty-four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
Demonstrated national, regional, and international recognition for research.
Successful supervision of at least three (3) post-graduate students to completion as a Lecturer or equivalent.
Proven ability to attracted research funds as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
Demonstrated Teaching skills as evidenced by student evaluation and peer reviews.
Conversant with online teaching and pedagogy.
Evidence of success in major non-teaching responsibilities at a University or reputable organization is an added advantage.
