Africa Nazarene University (ANU) is an American private Christian University in Nairobi, Kenya, and an affiliate of The Church of the Nazarene Colleges and Universities around the world. ANU is seeking a suitably qualified individual to fill the position of Associate Professor in the Computer Science department.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Pedagogy: Deliver quality teaching, assessment, and feedback. Employ various teaching methods such as field studies, group activities, assignments, and laboratory sessions. Conversant with online teaching and LMS tools.
Curriculum Development: Engage in curriculum review and program improvement; contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of high-quality curriculum. Review course outlines and develop lesson plans.
Research and Publication: Conduct research in the field of Computer Science and publish findings in professional journals, books, or electronic media. Maintain academic integrity and ethical practice.
Student Mentorship: Supervise undergraduate or graduate teaching, internships, and research work. Provide academic and career advising to students.
Assessment: Develop assessment plans; set, pre-moderate, administer, mark, and post-moderate exams and assignments. Ensure grades are entered into the system.
Institutional Support: Participate in quality assurance activities (evaluations, peer reviews). Provide timely reports to the Chair of Department, Registrar, and other functions. Attend conferences, workshops, and industrial linkage visits.
Requirements and Qualifications
Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level as a Senior Lecturer or Senior Researcher OR six (6) years of senior research/industry experience.
Research Output: A minimum of forty-eight (48) publication points as a Senior Lecturer or equivalent, with at least thirty-two (32) from refereed scholarly journals.
Recognition: National, Regional, and international recognition for research.
Supervision: Supervised at least four (4) post-graduate students to completion, including at least one doctoral student.
Funding: Proven ability to attract research funds as a Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow.
Teaching Evidence: Demonstrated teaching skills as evidenced by student evaluation and peer reviews.
Administrative Experience: Evidence of success in major non-teaching responsibilities at a university or reputable organization is an added advantage.
