Job Description
Role Overview
To support delivery of targeted business (non-medical) growth with the right parameters within the Corporate and Public Sector segments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage broker relationships to deliver targeted premium outputs.
- Oversee pipeline business management, quotation processing, and transmission to brokers within established Turnaround Times (TATs).
- Establish and operate Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with brokers for differentiated service delivery.
- Maintain Interdepartmental Service Level Standards in collaboration with the Underwriting team across branches.
- Champion cross-selling initiatives for corporate business and handle other assigned special projects.
- Conduct market research and intelligence gathering to stay updated on industry developments and competitor activities.
- Manage knowledge capital by categorizing and distributing market research results.
- Deliver on financial parameters including Gross Written Premium (GWP), loss ratios, and cross-selling targets.
- Manage broker debt in accordance with set debt management standards.
- Control expenditures for travel, events, and promotional items.
- Plan and allocate funds for brand management activities based on the structured calendar.
- Stay current with relevant legislation and insurance industry developments that impact the business unit.
- Coordinate compliance with regulatory requirements for broker licensing and onboarding as per ABC Third Party Standards.
- Prepare production reports and other statistical data for management review.
- Represent the department in various business reporting forums as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field (Actuarial Science, B.Com Insurance, Business Administration).
- 7 – 10 years of professional experience in sales management and business development within the insurance industry.
- A minimum of 5 - 6 years of experience specifically in General Insurance, including time spent in a management role.
- Professional qualifications: ACII, Diploma in Insurance (UK), or AIIK, Diploma in Insurance (Kenya), or significant progress toward these.
- Higher Diploma in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies is required.
