Role Overview
Our client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Buying Assistant to support their buying team in the development and management of product ranges. This role is fundamental to ensuring smooth product setup, accurate data management, and effective communication between internal teams and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Product Data Management: Set up and maintain accurate product information on internal systems and support the buying team with product lifecycle administration.
Cross-functional Coordination: Liaise with internal teams (e.g., design, compliance, marketing) to organize artwork, packaging, and certification requirements.
Supplier & Sample Management: Coordinate with suppliers and factories to request, organize, and track product samples. Maintain accurate records of samples, approvals, and product specifications.
Reporting & Planning: Assist in preparing range plans, product data sheets, and buying reports. Update and manage product pricing, costings, and margin trackers.
Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the buying team and assist with shipping administration, including contacting factories and forwarders to update arrival dates on the system.
Requirements
Essentials:
Education: BA/BSc/HND qualification.
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data management, basic formulas, spreadsheets).
Core Competencies: Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with strong organizational and time management skills.
Soft Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and communicate well both verbally and in writing.
Professionalism: Proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Desirable:
Previous experience in a buying, merchandising, or administrative role.
Experience working with product management or ERP systems.
Understanding of product development or supply chain processes.
Working Environment & Equipment
This is an office-based role located in Nairobi.
All necessary equipment will be provided, including a computer, monitors, headset, and telephony systems.
Remuneration is aligned with experience and current market standards.
