The Assistant Director of Legal Services is a senior role within the County Government of Nandi, responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice to the Board and management. Duties and Responsibilities
Legal Counsel: Providing expert legal guidance to the Board and management to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Policy Development: Drafting and updating legal policies, regulations, and legislative frameworks.
Contract Management: Preparing, reviewing, and negotiating contractual instruments, agreements, and memorandums of understanding.
Dispute Resolution: Managing litigation cases and spearheading alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms to safeguard the county's interests.
Team Supervision: Supervising legal staff and coordinating legal activities within the department.
Risk Mitigation: Identifying potential legal risks and developing proactive strategies to prevent litigation.
Requirements for Appointment
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized institution.
A Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
Be a Member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) in good standing.
Possess a current and valid practising license.
At least 6 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years served at a senior level.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in managing legal teams.
