The Universal / SME Banker at Absa Bank Limited is responsible for providing an excellent customer experience while delivering exceptional branch business growth and profitability. The role focuses on driving sales from both retail and business banking segments, maintaining high standards of compliance, and ensuring strict adherence to banking regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth (60%)
Implement branch strategic initiatives to increase new business and wallet share from existing customers.
Maintain a deep understanding of Retail and Business Banking products to satisfy diverse customer needs.
Manage portfolio risks in line with the bank's appetite and conduct regular market intelligence to identify new trends.
Collaborate with internal teams (Direct Sales, Asset Finance, CIB, Bancassurance) to maximize cross-selling opportunities.
Plan and coordinate marketing approaches to develop existing relationships and acquire new-to-bank accounts.
Monitor individual performance against daily targets and address any shortfalls.
Ensure a seamless customer experience by driving TAT observance in service delivery.
Internal Controls & Risk Management (10%)
Adhere to Absa Bank policies and procedures, specifically KYC and AML processes.
Manage operational risks and costs within the area of operation.
Conduct assigned branch snap checks and ensure accurate capture of customer information in the core banking system.
Ensure all bank charges, commissions, and fees are collected as per the current tariff.
Customer Experience (20%)
Achieve set TAT for account onboarding, loan processing, and responding to customer queries.
Resolve customer complaints promptly and maintain branch NPS scores within target levels.
Gather customer feedback on service standards and suggest improvements to leadership.
Monitor waiting times and manage work plans for peak and off-peak periods.
Capacity Building & People Management (10%)
Foster a conducive and teamwork-oriented work environment.
Complete all assigned e-learning and internal training within set timelines.
Manage personal succession planning and training needs analysis.
Requirements
Education: A business-related degree (BA/BSc/HND).
Experience: Familiarity with various banking products (checking/savings accounts, loans, credit cards) and a solid track record in sales performance.
Skills: High attention to detail, urgency, and the ability to work under pressure. Must be flexible, adaptable, and possess strong interpersonal skills to relate with staff and customers at all levels.
