Job Description
Amentum is a global leader in designing, engineering, and modernizing critical systems and programs of national importance across defense, security, intelligence, energy, and the environment. As a Transportation Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the Transportation, Material Handling Equipment (MHE), Movement Control, Arrival/Departure Airfield Control Group, Container Management, and Motor Pool Operations. This senior role involves high-level coordination with project and construction management staff to develop robust transportation support plans and ensures that all operations strictly comply with contract requirements.
Principal Accountabilities
Manage the Transportation, Material Handling Equipment (MHE), Movement Control, Arrival/Departure Airfield Control Group, Container Management, and Motor Pool Operations.
Work closely with project and construction management staff to develop plans, policies, and procedures for project transportation support.
Ensure transportation sections comply with contract requirements.
Facilitate effective communications throughout the transportation organization.
Cross-level assets (using on-hand personnel and assets) to ensure sufficient capabilities are in place to cover surge and demobilization requirements.
Develop and train personnel on all aspects of logistics as assets become available.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
Advanced knowledge of ground transportation, freight forwarding, military supply operations, and distribution administration.
Skill in analyzing and evaluating customer transportation system reports, quality control, and traffic management functions.
Familiarity with customer transportation contracts.
Skill in organizing and supervising movement, deployment, and redeployment of personnel and equipment in a military and joint environment with civilians.
Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
Experience & Education
Minimum eight (8) years of experience in military transportation.
At least two (2) years in an OCONUS/combat zone management role in transportation, freight forwarding, and/or supply chain management.
Evaluation experience in site capability and limitation for depots, truck terminals, air terminals, water ports/terminals, and road networks.
Proven technical experience in interpretation and use of military transportation automated systems, civilian transportation management, and cargo tracking systems.
Experience as a transportation representative between military services, commercial agencies, and host nation elements.
Bachelor’s degree in logistics, management, or associated discipline; you may substitute two (2) additional years of experience in a related field for each year of college.
Preference is given to former military Transportation Corp Officers or civilian Transportation Managers with OCONUS operational and/or transportation experience.
