Role Overview
As the Site Lead at DHL Supply Chain Kenya, you will be responsible for enhancing the performance of Multiuser Site operations. This involves effectively overseeing daily, weekly, and monthly activities to ensure alignment with customer requirements and the achievement of contractual KPIs. You will cultivate a culture of operations excellence, positioning DHL as the "provider of choice" for our clients. The role requires providing strong leadership, motivation, and development opportunities for the workforce, fostering an environment that makes DHL a great place to work. Additionally, you will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the site, adhering to established guidelines and best practices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Safety and Health: Implement actions to reduce or eliminate health and safety risks, ensure adherence to Safety Standards, and manage the Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) program. Report and investigate incidents and non-compliance issues.
- Security and Compliance: Implement required security measures for personnel, assets, and customer products according to the DSC 6 Steps security framework. Ensure compliance with regulatory and local legal obligations and DPDHL policies.
- Operational Excellence: Supervise adherence to up-to-date processes, SOPs, and work instructions. Implement the CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) process for nonconformities and regularly update training plans.
- Customer and Supplier Management: Liaise with suppliers, monitor their performance, and participate in customer and internal audits. Resolve or escalate customer issues and implement agreed action plans.
- Continuous Improvement: Support and implement continuous improvement activities using First-Choice tools, Gemba Walks, and Performance Dialogues.
- Resource Management: Manage resource planning using the RPM system to align staff with forecasted volumes. Oversee recruitment, appraisals, and disciplinary processes.
- Financial Stewardship: Track monthly budget expenditure within your area of responsibility and monitor the performance of people and equipment for efficiency.
- Leadership: Provide feedback, coaching, and performance reviews for direct reports. Lead daily briefings via Performance Dialogue boards and maintain a strong presence on the warehouse floor.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: A relevant University degree in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, or Project Management.
- Professional Experience: At least 6 years of experience in Logistics or Warehouse Operations.
- Financial Skills: Minimum of 2 years of experience in Finance and Budget Management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Environment: Proven experience working in a warehousing, logistics, or FMCG environment.
- Core Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, innovation, creativity, and business/commercial acumen.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attributes: Well-organized individual who is results-oriented.
