The role of the Corporate Relations function is to ensure KBL’s license to operate, enhance our license to grow, and unlock our license to celebrate. As the Sustainability Manager - Supply, you will focus on developing and implementing KBL’s sustainability strategy ('Spirit of Progress' action plan), establishing trust-based relationships with stakeholders in Government and NGOs, and acting as a Corporate Relations Business partner for the supply organization to guarantee sustainable raw material supply.
Role Responsibilities
Sustainable Development
- Promote and upscale the integration of sustainability into KBL strategy and operations.
- Support effective internal and external communication initiatives in the KBL Supply function.
- Identify and manage Corporate Relations (CR) related risks and vulnerabilities in KBL Supply.
- Support senior Supply leaders in external engagements on the sustainability agenda.
Local Raw Materials (LRM)
- Sustainable agriculture: Collaborate closely with the agribusiness team in designing and embedding sustainable agriculture practices in the value chain.
- Embed Inclusion and Diversity in the LRM value chain, ensuring representation of persons with disabilities, women, youth, and other underrepresented groups.
- Reputation management: Gather information through networking and field visits to LRM regions to uncover and mitigate potential reputation risks.
- LRM branding: Produce communication materials for programs and events to enhance reputation.
- Implement EABL Foundation initiatives such as 'Water of Life' and 'Learning for Life' in LRM Regions.
Circular Economy
- Serve as an internal expert on circular economy and climate change (including related legislation).
- Find new ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste from factories and offices in collaboration with supply chain and facilities teams.
- Lead the extended producer responsibility agenda for post-consumer packaging waste (plastics, cans, and glass).
- Drive external sustainable waste management initiatives and thought leadership in Circular Economy.
Human Rights
- Manage local governance of the Human Rights Policy and the reporting process.
- Support the Human Rights Impact Assessment action plan, addressing action items and reviewing progress via the Societal Impact Scorecard.
- Provide training to help stakeholders understand, assess, and mitigate human rights risks.
Inclusion and Diversity
- Promote inclusive business models that empower marginalized groups where we source, work, and sell.
- Partner with HR and procurement to drive the inclusion of underrepresented groups in the value chain.
- Advance the empowerment of women in the workplace, marketplace, and communities.
Experience and Skills Required
- Business Degree and a postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in Sustainability, Consulting, Communication, or Public Affairs.
- An MBA degree is an added advantage.
- 6 years’ experience in leading and managing sustainability and communication agendas in a multinational or large organization.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and strength in building relationships and managing programs.
- Strong understanding of sustainable development issues (especially water, agriculture, and environment).
- Understanding of major reporting frameworks (GRI, TSFD, IFRS1, and IFRS2).
- FMCG industry experience and sustainability-related management experience.
- Experience in managing multi-stakeholder environments at different levels.
