Kisii University is looking for a dedicated and experienced Sports Officer to oversee and enhance its athletic and recreational programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic planning, organization, and execution of sports and games activities within the university, fostering a culture of physical wellness and competitive excellence among the student body.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Supervision: Manage and provide direction to staff within the sports department to ensure efficient operations.
Program Development: Coordinate the planning, organization, and continuous development of various university games and sports activities.
Coaching and Officiating: Actively coach student teams and officiate matches across various sporting disciplines to ensure fair play and skill growth.
External Competition Management: Take full responsibility for students and teams participating in external fixtures and national competitions.
Student Engagement: Develop initiatives to popularize sports and games activities among the student population to increase participation.
Additional Duties: Execute any other official duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or university management.
Academic and Professional Requirements
Education: A Master’s degree in Physical Education or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
Licensure: Possess a valid practicing license where applicable.
Professional Membership: Be a registered member of a relevant professional body (where applicable).
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in a similar role, specifically as a Sports Officer I or equivalent.
