The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of development agencies working to improve living conditions and opportunities in the developing world. We are seeking a passionate IB Teacher for Middle Years Programme (MYP) Humanities and Diploma Programme (DP) Geography. The role is designed for an educator who can motivate students to reach their highest potential while fostering a deep appreciation for geography and the humanities within a safe and thinking-oriented environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
Curriculum & Instruction: Design and deliver engaging learning and assessment activities that promote deep understanding and confident thinking.
Collaborative Planning: Work closely with colleagues to plan units that effectively implement IB programmes.
Student Monitoring: Track and monitor student progress to ensure academic growth.
IB Core Supervision: Serve as a supervisor for the Personal Project (MYP) and the Extended Essay (DP).
Pastoral Care: Act as a form tutor or mentor to guide and support a small group of students.
Co-curricular Engagement: Contribute to the development and implementation of enrichment, experiential, and co-curricular activities.
Skills and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
Teaching Credential: Must possess an internationally recognized teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed or M.Ed).
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience teaching specifically within the IB MYP and DP frameworks.
Soft Skills: Proven ability to inspire and motivate students; strong collaborative planning skills; ability to manage student research projects.
