Amentum is seeking a Solid Waste Disposal Supervisor to oversee and manage hazardous waste accumulation and storage operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for training personnel, ensuring compliance with safety standards (OSHA, EPA, ANSI, NFPA), and managing the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials within a contract environment.
Principal Accountabilities
Training & Mentorship: Train and mentor department personnel on the proper procedures to operate Hazardous Waste Accumulation and Storage Areas.
Safety Compliance: Implement ground safety programs to ensure compliance with contract specifications and host installation.
Decontamination Support: Assist as needed in decontamination operations.
Inspections: Maintain workplace Safety Inspections in accordance with company and host base installation safety requirements; perform safety-related ISO inspections according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Guidance & Briefings: Give support briefings, training, and guidance on OSHA general industry safety, HAZMAT hazardous material communications, and Employee Right to Know briefings for employees.
Data Reporting: Gather and report pertinent data for all scheduled/unscheduled safety reporting requirements.
MSDS & Chemical Management: Participate in supporting the host installation Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) program and monitor the proper storage/use/disposal of hazardous chemicals (HAZMAT) utilized by employees according to government host standards.
Safety Liaison: Participate in supporting the host Government Safety Office as a member of any installation-specific safety organizations.
Corrective Actions: Make on-the-spot corrections with employees regarding safety and make recommendations on "near miss" reporting for process improvement with the Site Supervisor.
Incident Reporting: Report to on-site management in all matters related to employee safety, accidents, and/or injuries.
Database Management: Ensure all hazardous materials are properly marked and product information is entered into an approved database; ensure items are properly packaged and that current MSDS accompany products.
Storage Procedures: Establish and maintain proper storage, segregation, and inspection procedures for assets that have a hazardous material code.
Waste Coordination: Act as the point of contact for collection of contractor-generated HAZWASTE and shipping preparation.
Aircraft Maintenance Safety: Ensure all contractor HAZMAT/HAZWASTE generated from aircraft Support Equipment (SE) and related maintenance actions is properly handled, collected, and disposed of per all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Requirements
Education: BA/BSc/HND degree.
Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of related HAZMAT experience including categorizing, consolidating, and neutralizing hazardous materials.
Operational Experience: Two (2) years of experience with receiving, storage, distribution, handling, and disposal of all types of materials utilized at a contractor’s job site.
Certification: OSHA 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Certificate and applicable annual 8-hour refresher certificates (Foreign and Local Nationals may substitute company-provided 24 or 40-hour training with a passing score of 80%).
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Ability to safely work with hazardous materials and promptly segregate, consolidate, and neutralize excess hazardous materials.
Familiarity with OSHA and EPA standards.
Knowledge of American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is preferred.
Familiarity with U.S. and International Import/Export Regulations.
Knowledge of Federal, State, Local, and County environmental laws, policies, and regulations.
