Job Description
Amentum is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Clerk to join our team in Lamu. This role is responsible for performing a variety of warehousing duties that require a comprehensive understanding of the facility storage plan, shipping procedures, and personal computer operation. The clerk will ensure the safe operation of warehouse equipment and accurate tracking of all materials entering and leaving the facility.
Principal Accountabilities
Verification: Verify all items being received and/or shipped to or from the warehouse.
Preparation: Remove material from storage and prepare for shipment, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages upon inspection of material.
Documentation: Verify the accuracy of the daily receiving report and shipping log.
Material Handling: Store, stack, or palletize materials in preparation for storage and/or shipment.
Inventory Control: Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
Record Keeping: File all paperwork per documented procedures and maintain related records.
Internal Distribution: Route incoming items within the company as directed.
General Support: Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Competencies
Familiarity with proper packaging methods and ability to interpret visual aids used to convey specific packaging requirements.
Capability of estimating weight and using that information to calculate the cost of shipping.
Proficiency in personal computer operation for logging and reporting purposes.
Commitment to safe operation of warehouse equipment.
Qualifications and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent (KCSE).
Previous experience in a shipping/receiving or warehouse environment is preferred.
