Tom Mboya University is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Senior Lecturer in the field of Remote Sensing, GIS, and Geomatics. This role involves academic instruction, advanced research, and the supervision of postgraduate students within the university's academic framework.
Responsibilities
While specific daily duties are not exhaustively listed, a Senior Lecturer is typically expected to:
Deliver high-quality lectures and practical sessions in Remote Sensing, GIS, and Geomatics.
Conduct original research and publish findings in reputable, refereed scholarly journals.
Supervise and mentor postgraduate students (Master's and PhD) through to the completion of their research projects.
Contribute to curriculum development and the enhancement of academic programs.
Participate in university administrative committees and community outreach programs.
Stay updated with the latest technological advancements in Geomatics and spatial sciences.
Requirements
An earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in Remote Sensing, GIS, Geomatics, or a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
At least three (3) years of teaching/research experience at the university level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow OR at least six (6) years of relevant research/industry experience.
A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, of which at least twenty-four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
Evidence of having successfully supervised a minimum of three (3) post-graduate students to completion as a Lecturer or equivalent.
Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
