Tom Mboya University is a public higher education institution based in Homa Bay, Kenya. The university is looking for a qualified and committed academic professional to join the Faculty as a Senior Lecturer in Nursing. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing the institution's mission through teaching excellence, rigorous research, and effective mentorship of postgraduate students.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality instruction and practical training to undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students.
Conduct original research in nursing and related healthcare fields.
Publish research findings in reputable, refereed scholarly journals.
Supervise and mentor postgraduate students (Masters and Ph.D.) through to the successful completion of their research projects.
Contribute to the design, development, and review of the nursing curriculum.
Provide academic leadership within the department and participate in university committees.
Engage with professional bodies and the clinical community to maintain standards and foster partnerships.
Requirements for Appointment
Education: Must have an earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in Nursing or a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching or research experience at the university level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow, OR six (6) years of significant research or industry experience.
Publications: A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points accumulated as a Lecturer or equivalent, with at least twenty-four (24) of those points coming from refereed scholarly journals.
Supervision: Demonstrated track record of supervising at least three (3) postgraduate students to completion in the capacity of a Lecturer or equivalent.
Professional Status: Registered with the relevant professional body (such as the Nursing Council of Kenya), where applicable.
