Tom Mboya University is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Marine Engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, conducting research, and supervising postgraduate students within the department. This role requires academic excellence, research productivity, and professional involvement in the field of Marine Engineering.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Deliver high-quality lectures and practical sessions to undergraduate and postgraduate students in Marine Engineering.
Conduct original research and contribute to the body of knowledge in the relevant field.
Publish research findings in refereed scholarly journals.
Supervise postgraduate students through to the completion of their research and theses.
Contribute to curriculum development and review to ensure the program remains current and relevant.
Participate in departmental meetings, committee work, and other administrative duties as assigned.
Engage with professional bodies and industry stakeholders to enhance the university's marine engineering profile.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Must have an earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in Marine Engineering or a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
Experience:
At least three (3) years of teaching or research experience at the university level as a Lecturer or Research Fellow.
Alternatively, at least six (6) years of significant research or industry experience.
Research & Publications:
A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent.
At least twenty-four (24) of these points must be from refereed scholarly journals.
Supervision: Demonstrated experience in supervising at least three (3) post-graduate students to completion as a Lecturer or equivalent.
Professional Membership: Must be registered with a relevant professional body where applicable.
