Kisii University is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced individual for the position of Senior Lecturer in Clinical Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for academic leadership, conducting high-level research, and delivering quality instruction to students. The role involves supervising postgraduate students, developing competitive research proposals to attract funding, and contributing significantly to the university's academic and administrative functions through various committees and departmental activities.
Responsibilities and Duties
Provide effective teaching and mentorship to both undergraduate and postgraduate students in Clinical Medicine.
Conduct original research and publish findings in reputable, refereed scholarly journals.
Supervise postgraduate students’ research projects, theses, and dissertations.
Develop and submit research proposals to attract external funding and grants to the University.
Participate in and contribute to learned conferences, seminars, and professional workshops.
Engage in University service through active participation in departmental matters, student academic advising, and membership in School and University committees.
Contribute to the evaluation and improvement of teaching methods and curriculum development.
Requirements for Appointment
A Doctorate degree (PhD) or its academic equivalent from an accredited/recognized institution.
A minimum of three (3) years of teaching/research experience at the University level since being appointed as a Lecturer or Research Fellow.
Evidence of research output comprising at least twenty-four (24) points from refereed scholarly journals since appointment as a Lecturer.
At least six (6) points earned from the supervision of postgraduate students.
At least two (2) points from publications in conference proceedings since appointment to the position of Lecturer.
Documented evidence of having developed proposals that have successfully attracted funding to the University.
Evidence of continued evaluated effective teaching and research.
Proof of contribution to University service (e.g., active participation in departmental matters, committee memberships).
Registration and recognition by relevant regulatory bodies where applicable.
Membership or affiliation with relevant professional bodies where applicable.
