Kisii University is looking for a Senior Lecturer in Agricultural Extension to join its faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, conducting research, and providing academic leadership within the Department. The role involves training high-level human resources to meet national and international development needs, supervising postgraduate students, and contributing to the university's mission of research and academic excellence.
Responsibilities and Duties
Deliver high-quality teaching at the University level in the field of Agricultural Extension.
Conduct significant research and publish findings in refereed scholarly journals.
Supervise postgraduate students to successful completion of their theses/dissertations.
Develop research proposals to attract external funding to the University.
Attend and contribute to learned conferences, seminars, and workshops.
Provide service to the University through active participation in departmental matters, academic meetings, and committee memberships.
Provide mentorship and support to students.
Requirements for Appointment
A Doctorate degree (PhD) in Agricultural Extension or a relevant discipline from an accredited/recognized institution.
A cumulative total of at least three (3) years of teaching or research experience at the University level since being appointed as a Lecturer or Research Fellow.
Research output points totaling at least twenty-four (24) points from refereed scholarly journals since appointment to the position of Lecturer.
Evidence of successful postgraduate students’ supervision totaling at least six (6) points.
At least two (2) points from publications in conference proceedings since appointment as a Lecturer.
Evidence of having developed proposals that have successfully attracted funding to the University.
Evidence of continued evaluated effective teaching and research performance.
Registration and recognition by relevant regulatory bodies (where applicable).
Membership or affiliation with relevant professional bodies (where applicable).
