As the Senior Environmental & Social Manager at Sistema.bio, you will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer and maintain a strategic line of communication with the CEO. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive Environmental & Social Management System (ESMS) across all operational regions. This role ensures robust E&S risk identification, impact mitigation, operational safety, and compliance with international standards such as the IFC Performance Standards and World Bank EHS Guidelines, as well as local regulations. Your focus will span manufacturing, product lifecycle, installations, field operations, and supply chains, playing a critical function in protecting people, the environment, and the company’s reputation.
Key Responsibilities
ESMS Management: Lead the continuous improvement of a global Environmental & Social Management System aligned with IFC and ISO standards.
Risk & Impact Assessment: Manage and update E&S risk assessments across all sites, ensuring effective mitigation and monitoring.
HSE Compliance: Establish and maintain robust Health, Safety & Environmental protocols across field and manufacturing units.
Monitoring & Reporting: Oversee internal frameworks to track E&S performance, incident management, and operational improvements.
Integration: Collaborate with product and manufacturing teams to embed environmental considerations into design and production.
Emergency Preparedness: Lead the development of emergency response plans and training for all facilities.
Audit & Compliance: Lead audits and due diligence processes, ensuring timely resolution of findings.
Qualifications and Experience
7–10 years of relevant experience in Environmental and Social management.
Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement.
Experience overseeing E&S topics across multiple regions or countries within a global organization.
Proven expertise in applying global standards (IFC PS, World Bank EHS, ISO).
A BA/BSc/HND qualification in a relevant field.
Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Spanish, Hindi, or Swahili is a plus.
Ability to travel regularly (10–15%) to regional offices in Pune, Nairobi, and Mexico City.
