We are looking for an experienced Senior Auto Technician to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of a fleet of safari vehicles. The role focuses on advanced diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repair of Toyota Land Cruiser models operating in rugged terrain. Our client is a leading destination management company delivering high-quality safari experiences across Africa. Their operations depend on a reliable fleet of specialized vehicles designed to perform in demanding off-road environments.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostics & Repair: Diagnose, service, and repair Toyota Land Cruiser 78/79 Series vehicles.
Engine Maintenance: Maintain diesel engines (1HZ, 1VD, 1KD) for optimal performance and reliability.
Chassis & Suspension: Inspect and maintain suspension systems, chassis, and undercarriage components.
4x4 Systems: Service and overhaul 4x4 systems, including differentials, transfer cases, and hubs.
Safari Accessories: Maintain safari-specific accessories such as winches, snorkels, and roof racks.
Electrical Systems: Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including dual batteries and in-vehicle power systems.
Inspections: Conduct pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections.
Preventive Maintenance: Implement preventive maintenance programs based on usage and terrain conditions.
Breakdown Response: Respond to breakdowns and perform field repairs where necessary.
Vehicle Recovery: Carry out safe vehicle recovery using approved techniques.
Documentation: Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
Mentorship: Mentor junior technicians and support a high-performance workshop culture.
Requirements
Diploma or higher qualification in Automotive Engineering.
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a senior technician or mechanic role.
Proven experience with Toyota Land Cruiser diesel engines (1HZ, 1VD, 1KD).
Strong knowledge of 4x4 systems, diagnostics, and automotive electronics.
Experience with Toyota dealerships (e.g., CFAO) is an added advantage.
Valid driving licence.
