Role Overview
The School Nurse plays a critical role in the school community by providing essential healthcare services to students and staff. The primary objective is to manage acute illnesses and injuries, provide first aid, and maintain a healthy and safe environment for learning. This role involves close collaboration with parents, guardians, and external healthcare professionals to ensure the well-being of the student body, including those with chronic or special health needs.
Key Deliverables
Emergency & Acute Care: Administer first aid and manage acute illness or injury among students and staff.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, confidential health records and medication administration logs.
Health Screening: Conduct routine health screenings and support the monitoring of students with chronic conditions.
Communication: Liaise with parents, guardians, and external healthcare professionals as required.
Wellness Initiatives: Develop and implement health education and wellness initiatives for the school community.
Clinic Management: Ensure the clinic is well-stocked, clean, and compliant with health and safety standards.
Safeguarding: Adhere to safeguarding policies and report concerns through appropriate channels.
Special Needs Support: Support students with special health needs and develop individual health care plans.
Professional Qualifications
Education: Diploma or degree in Nursing (Kenya Registered Nurse/Midwife preferred).
Licensing: Valid registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
Certification: Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Soft Skills: Strong communication, empathy, and organisational skills.
