Information about the Role
Terre des hommes (Tdh), the leading Swiss child relief agency, is seeking a Safeguarding Futures Grants Coordinator for the Child Rights and Business (CRB) initiative. This role is central to managing grants and ensuring the implementation of activities that improve conditions for vulnerable children worldwide, specifically focusing on business and human rights contexts within agricultural supply chains and corporate sustainability.
Responsibilities and Duties
Management and Implementation:
- Facilitate and coordinate internally with Tdh and partners on the drafting, review, and finalization of partner agreements, including global coalition budgets and individual company installment plans.
- Ensure all project activities are implemented in a timely and quality manner in accordance with Tdh program standards and in full compliance with SSCP and SECO requirements.
- Facilitate the development of joint work plans between partners and track progress toward activity implementation.
- Develop and maintain a detailed plan of activities in collaboration with the local implementing partner in Mexico and report regularly on project performance.
- Maintain the Project Follow-Up (PFU) and financial monitoring tools to ensure compliance with donor rules and regulations.
- Monitor the timely implementation of activities based on the M&E framework through regular contact with local partners and field visits.
- Prepare monthly budget forecasting and monitor expenditure trends in collaboration with the Finance Department.
- Support Finance HQ in the preparation of disbursement requests to SSCP and the invoicing process of coalition companies.
- Manage administrative and financial paperwork and ensure adequate filing and archiving of all grant documentation.
Internal and External Coordination:
- Coordinate with relevant colleagues within the CRB Team, Child Protection Sector, Kenya Office, and HQ departments.
- Organize Initiative Steering Committee meetings, including logistics, agendas, minutes, and follow-up with members.
- Ensure smooth communication and collaboration with all partners and internal stakeholders.
Reporting and Communication:
- Coordinate internal contributions to compile and submit progressive and final narrative and financial reports to partners and donors.
- Ensure that Tdh and local partner reports and data are of high quality and accuracy.
- Review financial and programmatic reports from local partners to ensure they meet agreed requirements.
- Coordinate with the HQ communication department for the development of grant communication plans.
- Promote project activities and events based on Tdh and SSCP/SECO visibility standards.
- Contribute to the development of publications and promotional materials.
- Participate in public events, workshops, and training as delegated.
Risk and Compliance Management:
- Support compliance checks and internal/external audits.
- Identify and escalate grant-related risks across consortium partners.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree or Post-graduate qualification in Project Management, Finance and Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years’ experience in grants management within an INGO or consortium setting, including at least 5 years in a senior management role.
- Consortium Management: Demonstrated experience in directly managing consortia and coordinating relationships with diverse partners, including multinational private sector organizations.
- Donor Knowledge: Experience securing and managing funds from institutional donors such as UN agencies, SDC, ECHO, EU, DFID, or USAID.
- Technical Skills: Sound understanding of Program Cycle Management in development or emergency environments; strong analytical and financial literacy skills.
- Sector Expertise: Knowledge of corporate social sustainability and agricultural supply chains is an added advantage.
- Languages: Excellent communication in written and verbal English; knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an asset.
- Additional Skills: Experience with child protection/human rights and strong attention to detail.
