Job Description
Gender and Social Development Officer I
Nandi County is seeking to recruit Gender and Social Development Officers to promote gender equality and foster social development within the county. This role involves the formulation and execution of gender-responsive policies, ensuring that marginalized groups, including youth and persons with disabilities, are integrated into county development agendas. The officer will also be instrumental in addressing social issues such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) through data collection, training, and awareness initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and monitor gender-responsive policies, action plans, and strategies within the county.
Ensure the active participation of marginalized groups, such as youth and people with disabilities, across the county.
Collect data on gender mainstreaming, socio-economic empowerment, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) programs and projects.
Handle logistics related to the administration of training programs focusing on gender mainstreaming, socio-economic empowerment, FGM, and SGBV.
Coordinate and support Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention programs, including establishing protection mechanisms and leading awareness campaigns.
Requirements for Appointment
Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines: Gender Studies, Gender and Development, Sociology, Anthropology, Counselling and Psychology, or any other relevant Social Science from a recognized institution.
Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
