Job Description
Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya. The institute is seeking to recruit a Research Assistant to be based in Suba/Mbita to support the implementation of a hypertension telehealth intervention.
Role Overview
The Research Assistant will support practice facilitators and health facility teams in adopting and integrating hypertension telehealth interventions into routine workflows. This involves coordinating community health promoters, managing data collection, and troubleshooting health information systems to ensure the success of the research project.
Key Responsibilities
Support practice facilitators in implementing the hypertension telehealth intervention in assigned health facilities.
Assist health facility teams in adopting and integrating the hypertension telehealth intervention into routine workflows.
Assist in the training and coordination of Community Health Promoters (CHPs) to conduct hypertension screening and home-based follow-up visits.
Support CHP champions and clinic champions during the adoption of the telehealth hypertension intervention.
Assist in organizing and participating in facility meetings and community engagement activities.
Provide training and mentorship to CHPs on conducting hypertension screening, referrals, and home-based follow-up visits.
Assist in troubleshooting the eCHIS/Taifa Care health information systems.
Support data collection processes, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of study records.
Reinforce adherence to research protocols and intervention workflows.
Act as a liaison between the study team, health facility staff, and community stakeholders.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Diploma in Community Health, Social Work, Information Technology, or related fields (Mandatory).
Computer Proficiency: Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Mandatory).
Skills: Strong planning, communication, and reporting skills.
Interpersonal: Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven team player.
