Job Description
Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is seeking a Medical Imaging Technologist to support health research in Kirinyaga. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing ultrasonography and other physiological examinations in a field research setting, ensuring high standards of data accuracy and participant care.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the review of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to ultrasound techniques.
Implement assigned field tasks in ultrasonography during fieldwork operations.
Support field work activities, including anthropometric measurements and triaging of participants.
Maintain and strictly adhere to infection prevention and control standards.
Perform regular maintenance and servicing of sonography and ultrasound apparatus/equipment.
Manage research data, ensuring accurate archiving of digital bioimages from scans.
Conduct various physiological examinations such as Spirometry, Grip strength, and Leg force assessment.
Assist in project outreach and the dissemination of research findings.
Requirements
Minimum of a Diploma in Medical Imaging Sciences, Radiography, or a related field (Mandatory).
Must be registered and licensed with the Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority (KENRA) (Mandatory).
Demonstrated experience in medical imaging techniques (Mandatory).
Strong planning, communication, and reporting skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Must be comfortable working in remote fieldwork conditions (Mandatory).
