Africa Management Solutions Limited (AMSOL) is seeking a Relationship Officer to manage and expand their SME and Institutional Banking portfolio. The role is focused on marketing banking products, acquiring new clients, and managing credit relationships while ensuring high service standards and compliance with regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business growth through loans, deposits, and transactional account mobilization while maintaining a high-quality loan portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth: Market and grow SME and institutional banking products including loans, deposits, and transactional accounts. Identify and onboard new SME, institutional, retail, and business customers.
Credit Management: Appraise, review, validate, and process SME credit applications in line with lending policies. Prepare and present credit proposals to relevant committees for approval.
Portfolio Quality: Maintain a high-quality loan portfolio, ensuring Portfolio at Risk (PAR) remains within acceptable limits. Monitor accounts and follow up on arrears to minimize delinquency.
Deposit Mobilization: Drive growth in SME deposits and mobilize low-cost funds to support business objectives.
Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular visits, calls, and engagement. Act as the primary contact for assigned customers.
Sales & Support: Cross-sell banking products and services to maximize customer value. Identify customer needs and provide proactive solutions.
Compliance & Operations: Ensure compliance with AML, KYC, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate customer records.
Reporting: Prepare business performance and portfolio reports as required by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Banking, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in relationship management, SME banking, or business development within a financial institution. Experience in banking, microfinance, SACCO, or the financial services sector is highly preferred.
Skills: Strong understanding of SME lending, credit appraisal, and portfolio management. Proven sales, marketing, and customer relationship management capabilities.
Core Competencies: Good analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of banking operations, risk management, and compliance requirements.
Professional Training: Formal training in Banking, Credit Management, or Customer Service is an added advantage.
