Reporting to the Manager, Product Development & Innovation, the Product Development Officer is responsible for managing the development of Assets, Liabilities, and digital products. The role involves reviewing strategic business challenges and providing support to grow product portfolios and digital solutions, compiling and scheduling requests for mobile digital services, and maintaining the product store and roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
Vision & Strategy: Champion and gain buy-in for the product vision and roadmap through collaboration, documentation, and negotiation with partner teams and senior management.
Process Optimization: Lead Business Process Re-engineering initiatives.
Implementation: Execute end-to-end product implementation across Business, Operations, and Technology units, including third-party partners.
Market Intelligence: Conduct market research to inform product strategy and identify emerging trends.
Product Launches: Support go-to-market plans to ensure effective delivery of planned performance indicators, including financial and customer targets.
Capability Development: Create work plans for new and improved capabilities with internal and external partners.
Operational Excellence: Maintain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with relevant functions and provide input for budget forecasts.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Marketing, Commerce, Banking and Finance, Technology, or a related field from a recognized university.
Certification: Professional certification in Product Development, Project Management, or AGILE Methodologies and Practices.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in product development, specifically focusing on Assets, Liabilities, and Digital products.
Sector Knowledge: Experience in delivering financial products in high-growth environments and managing teams/stakeholder networks. Experience in Mobile Money or Payments Platform Support is highly advantageous.
Regulatory Knowledge: Sound understanding of banking operations, market trends, and statutory/regulatory requirements for corporate governance.
