Role Overview
The Registered Nurse (Oncology) is a specialized nursing professional at the County Government of Kitui responsible for providing comprehensive and specialized care to patients with cancer. The role involves managing the administration of complex treatments, monitoring patient health, and working within a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for oncology patients.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assess and monitor the physical and emotional condition of cancer patients and their response to treatment.
Safely administer specialized oncology medications, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
Manage and mitigate treatment-related side effects and potential complications.
Provide effective pain management and symptom relief to improve patient quality of life.
Coordinate patient care plans in close collaboration with oncologists and other healthcare professionals.
Regularly monitor vital signs, laboratory results, and overall treatment progress.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must be a Citizen of Kenya.
Diploma in any of the following disciplines from a recognized institution: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya Registered Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery, or Kenya Registered Nursing Mental Health and Psychiatry.
Higher Diploma in Oncology Nursing or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya (or relevant professional body).
Valid Practicing License from the relevant professional body.
Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
